Thanks to billionaire Bill Gates, Spokane schools are taking another big step forward in high tech education.
The Bill and Melinda Gates foundation is donating 175 thousand dollars to Spokane public schools.
That money will go towards the fall opening of the new information technology academy on the third floor of the Holley Mason building. Technology based companies will provide internships and mentorships for high school and college students attending the academy.
If you're interested in learning more about sending your student to the academy, a public meeting is set for May first at the school administration building starting at 6:30 p.m.
