SPOKANE, Washington, January 7, 2002 -- ConoverBond Development, announced today that it will commence with its scholarship program for the first time ever, this spring 2002. The goal of the scholarship program is to provide opportunities to area students that might not otherwise be available. ConoverBond’s interests are to award scholarships to individuals who show a combination of need, academic aptitude, interest in specific areas outlined in individual scholarships, and students who are recognized by teachers as having potential beyond their current levels.
ConoverBond will offer five scholarships this year with additional scholarships in the near future.
Scholarships honoring the lives of Clarence and Dorothy Brewster, and John and Minnie Gaeddert, have criteria oriented toward specific backgrounds in an applicant. Students that do not fit all criteria are none the less encouraged to apply. The Brewsters and the Gaedderts were all teachers in various ways and want to help students achieve goals beyond their dreams.
The Dr. Gary Livingston scholarship is geared toward helping students who attend the Information Technology Academy specifically. Dr. Livingston served as superintendent of Public Schools for School District 81 from 1993 – 2001. He was vital to recent success in School District 81 and credited toward the innovative idea that lead to the creation of the ITA.
John Stone and John Farris are participating in the scholarship program by funding scholarships in support of the Information Technology Academy. Both scholarships will help provide an opportunity for area students to attend the Information Technology Academy.
ConoverBond Development is integrally involved in the development of real estate in Spokane, Washington, Washington DC and Seattle Washington. ConoverBond’s main concentration is urban redevelopment including renovations of historic buildings and new construction projects, though their community interests are extensive and include an emphasis on education. Spokane area development projects include the Hutton, Montvale and Holley Mason Buildings. The Holley Mason Building is home to the Information Technology Academy and was home to Lewis and Clark High School from 1999-2001. The Holley Mason Building is now home to various companies including INHS, Dakatoh Direct, and GenPrime.
